You may not know The Avenue Concept (TAC) by name, but you probably know their work. This innovative nonprofit organization has been nurturing and developing public art ecosystems in Providence and around Rhode Island since 2012. The two large, colorful murals that bookend a parking lot off Washington Street; the huge mural depicting a Narragansett woman that you’ve seen in everybody’s Instagram feed; the giant sculpture made from single-use plastic in front of the new CIC Providence – that’s all TAC’s work.
John Taraborelli and Ian Barnard from TAC's storytelling team will present a selection of short-form videos that explore the stories behind public art. They’ll give you an insider’s look at the art that’s making the city more vibrant and the people who make it. Between videos they’ll share some of their own experiences in public art and answer questions from the audience.
Don’t miss this engaging evening of creativity, community and conversation.
